Anza (Agadir)

Anza (Agadir) is a well-known, reliable surf spot just north of Agadir’s port, centered around sandy entries and A-frame style peaks over a sandy/reef-adjacent bottom. It’s reported to start working from very small swells (less than 1 m) and can hold up to around 3 m+ depending on conditions and tide, with wave quality generally described as good. Wave character is described as fun and consistent rather than extreme. Reports commonly note normal ride lengths around 50 to 150 m, with some sessions delivering faster, more powerful sections when sandbar/peak shape forms well. Offshore East or SouthEast winds are favored for better surf; North winds can make conditions choppier. The spot is also described as having offshore southeast wind in at least some reports, and working best when conditions aren’t being dominated by larger nearby breaks. Access is practical from the Agadir area (through/behind the harbor approach toward Anza village), with one tip noting it’s easier to paddle out from the right-hand side of the beach. High tide is repeatedly indicated as the best tide position (or specifically a rising tide). On smaller days, crowd levels and local rider presence can increase—expect busier conditions when neighboring surf is flat. The main safety concern is water quality and localized hazards: rocks and pollution/industrial runoff are reported, and there are cautions about checking water quality after heavy rainfall before entering.
