Benavides is a small, secluded reef-and-rocks kitesurfing wave spot near Tarifa with crystal-clear water and medium wave potential. The setup is compact, with launch accessed via a steep walk down from limited roadside parking just before a military zone. Wind for Benavides is described as bimodal: both East (Levante) and West (Poniente) can be usable, with Levante associated with better wave conditions and Poniente often producing smaller waves. The spot is also described as requiring the right combination of swell and wind—sessions can be less consistent than the larger, sandy beach options in the area. Safety is a major factor here. Hazards include reefs, rocks, and submerged rock areas both on the shore and underwater. Riders are advised to check the tide before launching, and to avoid low-tide periods when rocks are more exposed. Levante can be side-offshore at this spot, making self-rescue very difficult, and there is no immediate rescue available at the launch.
