Caletita Buena

Caletita Buena is an exposed point break on the remote Huara coast of northern Chile, known for very reliable surf and consistently quiet conditions. It’s described as having relatively few surfers even on good days, making it attractive for surfers who want dependable waves without the crowd. The spot is most often associated with mid tide for best results. East winds (especially when they act offshore, such as east-northeast) are favored because they tend to keep the water surface cleaner and more groomed. For the highest-quality surf, clean northwest swell is highlighted as the ideal swell direction. The shoreline and approach are the main challenges: the area is rocky and sea urchins are present, so entry requires extra care. Because the spot is remote, plan to be self-sufficient with supplies and approach the water with appropriate protective gear. In terms of conditions over the year, summer is repeatedly cited as the best period for surfing, aligning with warmer water and generally more favorable outing conditions. Water temperatures are cold overall year-round, so wetsuit planning is important even in summer sessions.
