Lac Saint-Louis — Baie de Valois

Lac Saint-Louis — Baie de Valois is a small, shallow inland-lake kitesurfing spot near Dorval, characterized by cloudy water and generally flat to choppy conditions. The bottom is reported as mixed, and shallow water extends far from shore; as a result it can work well for learning and freestyle practice, but it also increases the risk of striking submerged rocks (some are difficult to see). Wind is primarily frontal, with south to south-westerly directions described as the most reliable. Typical working winds are reported around 12–25 knots, and gustiness is described as moderate. Winds from the north and northwest are flagged as often more turbulent and gusty due to the urban environment, and NW winds are specifically noted as very gusty because of buildings and trees. The launch area is relatively small and may be grassy or muddy depending on water level, which also matters for safety and depth. A bird sanctuary with designated no-go zones is present nearby (notably to the west), and riders are expected to respect these environmental restrictions—especially when planning routes and jumps. Beyond kitesurfing, the venue is described as usable for windsurfing (particularly for beginners) due to shallow water, while wingfoiling is considered limited because riders may need to travel 100–200 meters out before there is sufficient depth for foil engagement. In winter, once the lake freezes and is snow-covered, the bay is reported as a popular snowkiting location with packed snow conditions.
