Tahaddart

Tahaddart is a river-mouth kitesurfing spot near Tangier that combines a smooth lagoon inside the estuary with the possibility of wave riding on the Atlantic side by moving outside the sandbank. The launching/landing area is reported as big and the base setup is generally easy to access and launch from. For kitesurfing, the lagoon is described as very flat and well-suited for freestyle and freeride, with the best lagoon experience around high tide. Riders should be aware that the outgoing tide can pull them toward the open ocean, and that strong tidal currents can develop near the river mouth during ebb and flood. Wind-wise, spring and summer are emphasized: thermal and frontal winds prevail in that season, while winter winds are less frequent. The strongest kitesurfing months are reported from March through August, with commonly used wind coming from N through ENE/E through WNW/NW directions; easterly winds can be offshore and should be treated as a no-go condition for safety. Beyond kitesurfing, the area can support intermediate windsurfing (freeride in the river mouth and waves on strong Northwest days) and wingfoiling with flat-water potential—again with tidal-current awareness. Surf at the river mouth depends on shifting sandbars and can be average overall: northwest winds are cross-onshore while east winds tend to be offshore and groom the waves, and very large swells can make the waves heavy and disorganized.
