White Point Beach

White Point Beach is an exposed surfing beach break on Nova Scotia’s South Coast, known for a very consistent regional classic reputation. The surf is described as reliable and able to work much of the year, with the spot’s best month commonly listed as September. Wave direction is right-and-left (both), and conditions are generally characterized as good-to-regional-classic quality. The break can start with usable surf and hold up into larger Atlantic swells, with sections able to become hollow and fast/powerful when size increases. Optimal working swell is described in the South to East quadrant, with a typical effective swell height window around 1.0–2.5 meters. Safety is a priority here: rocks (including submerged rocks) are reported in the surf zone, and rip currents can occur—particularly near rocky areas and during larger swells. There is also a shore break risk. Water temperatures are cold year-round; one reported sea temperature is 2.9°C, and winter conditions require appropriate cold-water protection. Amenities are relatively strong for a coastal beach access point. The resort area provides practical facilities such as parking and on-site dining, and the beach is described as accessible via public access points or through the resort. Lifeguards are described as seasonal, and surfing areas may be limited by seasonal swimming zones during peak periods.
