Bouznika Plage

Bouznika Plage is a sheltered reef-and-point surfing beach in the Atlantic corridor between Rabat and Casablanca. The main attraction is a right-hand reef wave that peels off the rocky point, while the sandy center tends to be more forgiving and less technical than the ends. Surf conditions are repeatedly described as best around low tide, and mornings are often cleaner because the afternoon sea breeze arrives later. Northwest swell is the key swell direction for the break, and the combination of a northwest swell with offshore elements (reported as southeast to offshore at times) is noted as producing the most favorable surfing conditions, especially in winter when swells tend to be more consistent. The spot can hold meaningful size, but once swells are larger, currents near the rocky points can become strong and the waves may close out in the bay. For that reason, this spot is generally best for riders who can handle reef features and dynamic water movement, with overall skill guidance landing in the intermediate range. Safety and comfort depend heavily on preparation: rocks and sea urchins are reported at the surf break, particularly near the point, and boots are strongly recommended for walking out and for reducing puncture risk. Crowds are sometimes busy and can become very crowded in summer; planning around early sessions and checking conditions before committing to the rocky sections is advised.
