Caleta Matanzas (Navidad)

Caleta Matanzas is a mixed sand-and-rock coastline spot known for its long left-hand point break and reliable daytime thermal winds. The water is kept cold year-round by the Humboldt Current, and temperatures are typically in the mid-teens °C, so staying warm is a core part of planning. For wind sports, the thermal sea breeze is the main driver: winds generally build late morning (around 10:00–11:00 AM) and continue through the afternoon. Typical reported wind strengths are about 15–25 knots, with one regional description highlighting afternoon peak strength. Kitesurfing and windsurfing both benefit from these consistent thermal conditions and can be set up for wave riding in addition to freeride.
