Lalafatna (Ouled Zid)

Lalafatna is a reasonably exposed surf beach break near El Beddouza, known for having waves much of the year and for offering both left and right options. The best conditions are typically described when northwest swell lines up with southeast/offshore wind, improving overall ride quality and keeping wind-driven chop lower. From a hazards standpoint, the biggest concerns are strong rip currents during bigger sessions and the presence of rocks (including scattered rocks near the northern end and submerged rocks around the point area). When the spot is working, it can also draw more surfers, so managing crowd awareness and spacing is important. Facilities are sparse outside of the summer season, so being self-sufficient matters. For conditions, wind is reported as moderate overall (often lighter early, with more afternoon buildup). East/Northeast flow is commonly described as cleaner offshore, while West/Northwest can bring chop. Seasonally, the best months for wind-driven consistency are October through February. Temperature supports steady surfing: water is typically cool to mild, around the mid-to-high teens in winter, rising toward the low twenties later in the year. A wetsuit is strongly recommended year-round, with winter guidance favoring a thicker spring/winter setup and adding gloves/boots depending on the month and water chill.
