Miscou Lighthouse (Miscou Island)

Miscou Lighthouse on the northern tip of Miscou Island is a rugged, wave-capable spot with crystal-clear water and medium-to-big conditions. The beach setting is described as sandy (with rocky hazards near shore) and the water generally deepens quickly, which contributes to a more technical riding environment. Wind is best from northerly directions—N, NE, NW, and NNW—during the May through September window (often strongest in late spring and early fall). Winds are described as frontal-driven, with moderate gustiness. Very close to shore, minor turbulence may occur due to the lighthouse structure and nearby trees. Safety is a major constraint here: multiple sources flag strong currents and rip currents as hazards at the tip of the island, alongside rocks near the shoreline. The tide affects usable sandbar features—when the tide is out, a larger sandbar becomes more prominent and can improve options for certain wave sessions—while at high tide the launch area can feel narrower near the lighthouse. Overall, the spot is consistently characterized as advanced-level riding. Cold water requirements appear year-round, so a thick wetsuit plus protective riding gear are strongly implied.
