Puntilla Sanfuentes (Quintero)

Puntilla Sanfuentes is a small, rocky reef point on the west side of the Quintero peninsula with instant city access, producing a left-hand reef wave. The spot is consistently described as powerful and best suited to experienced surfers, with excellent wave quality when a solid swell arrives. The wave starts working around 1.0–1.5 m and holds up to about 2.5 m+ (with reports of even larger sets). Typical rides are commonly in the 50–150 m range, while good days can extend rides to roughly 150–300 m. The break is generally characterized as walling/holding on the point, and larger swells can become heavy—particularly making the spot more challenging to access. Safety is a major consideration: the bottom is boulder-and-reef strewn, with sea urchins repeatedly highlighted as a key hazard. The shoreline is exposed to heavier winter conditions, and strong rip currents are reported as possible during larger swells. Boots are emphasized as essential for both the rocky entry/exit and cold-water comfort. In terms of timing, winter is described as the stormier, most powerful period for surf. Wind is variable and described as low reliability overall, with surfing benefiting most when wind is light/offshore from the East or Northeast; surf quality and feasibility will therefore depend heavily on day-of conditions and swell/tide alignment.
