El Lenguado

Access is via a drive along the coastline toward Coloso port, continuing until the road ends; parking is described as informal near the beach access. For kitesurfing, the wind is best from the South to South-West (S, SSW, SW) and is strongly tied to the local thermal cycle. The most consistent seasonal window is from September through March, with afternoon winds that build with desert heating and typically peak mid-to-late afternoon. Reported typical wind strength for sessions is around 15–25 knots, and the wind is described as steady—especially in summer months. Water conditions and safety require extra planning. Sources flag strong currents, rocks at the ends of the beach, a remote setting with limited immediate help, and cold water. Large ocean waves are also noted as a hazard; riders should be ready for the combined effect of chop, waves, and current, and should treat launching as a higher-risk operation due to the limited rescue availability. It is also important to check whether kitesurfing is allowed locally, as permits or membership requirements may apply. For other sports, surfing is possible when the swell is right and the morning wind is weaker.
